Dear my curiosity readers,
Before anything else, I would like to express my gratitude to anyone that visit this post. Which would take you a quick tour to clarify about some basic confused informations that both Western and Chinese media want the rest of the world to see.
I fully acknowledged that as a developer, I might not have enough professional capabilities to express something sensitive and complicated as sovereignty dispute. But I would try my best. If there is any improvement that you think this post should adapted to, please contact me by either social media or email. I would really appriciate that.
So, where on Earth is Paracel and Spratly islands ?#
A marginal sea of the Western Pacific Ocean that was surrounded by Viet Nam, China, Taiwan, Philippines, Malaysia and Indonesia. (And a few countries with small territories such as Singapore, Brunei,...)
Currently, the place is under ongoing territorial dispute between almost every country that have contiguous territorial sea area. And there was nothing special about it, as long as almost any related parties claims only their place correspondingly as was acknowledged by United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea.
How important the place was ?#
- One-third of the world's maritime shipping passes through it, a marginal sea.
- Carrying over US$3 trillion in trade each year.
- Huge oil and natural gas reserves are believed to lie beneath its seabed.
- Lucrative fisheries, which are crucial for the food security of millions in Southeast Asia.
There's no need arguing about how vastly beneficial it was to any nation surround. Especially for some resource thirsty as China, where, while this post was drafted, under ongoing energy crisis. But, somehow, still unilateral imposition over Australia. Despite there was many articles explained what motivation behind all of that. It might just because, Australia have no oil, but kangaroo ?
What Beijing goverment want ?#
Nine-dash line on Google would be the most correct and completeness about it. The picture above just save us sometimes wandering over internet.
Is that even legally ?#
Probably most of high school students spot something was not so right, but... Why should Beijing goverment even care ?
For other Southeast Asia nations, except for Cambodia, Beijing's declaration was as simple as
What should we do ?#
First of all, please don't equate Chinese with Beijing goverment, that's the exact things they want the world to see. Despite Beijing goverment was so successful on surveillance of the people, under various creative ways, from Tiananmen all the way up to Xinjiang.
But looking back to Taiwan. I would bet ten bucks that people much more prefer old good days.
By the way, the goverment doesn't encourage that idea so much, then erase it
seems to be a better one.
God bless us...
Then, if there's anyway that anyone could helping stop human harvest that's was going for a long time, please do.
All people are born with equal rights.
They are endowed by their creator with certain inalienable rights.
Among these are the right to live, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.
In our home land, we was taught this. If there was any doubt(as many western media giving out negative consideration about Viet Nam human right), just ask any Vietnamese people. They do know it.
Finally, knowing the truth, spread it and correct deviations that was created intentionally would be the sharpest sword to prevent unjustified expansionist ambitions, which was designed to inheritance from generation to generation.
Repeat a lie often enough and it becomes the truth • Joseph Goebbels
There was no need to mention which one have the rights over the sea. History made it already. Existence in the form of maps, statements and records can be found over internet.
Cabo Comorim, Japao, Moluco e Note in Atlas • João da Lisboa. This origin map was store at National Archives of Portugal, the map was draw in 1560, probably good enough for starting point of curiosity journey.
